What is roof prop training regulated by?
Title 8 of the California code of Regulations
Title 8 states…
Railings- required on BUILDINGS where workers are over 30” above the ground and STRUCTURES where workers are above 42” off the ground
Fall arrest systems- required when workers are over 7.5’ off the ground and do not have a railing
Toe boards- required on buildings over 6’ off the ground where tools can fall off a roof under the railing
What is considered a “pitched” roof prop?
Any roof with a pitch over 1”x12”
Who approves the building of a roof prop at a fire station?
Bureau Commander and In-service training shall be notified
