last 3-4 years generally

on-the-job training and practical and written tests

often combine workplace training with attendance in college

offer people aged over 16 a chance of paid employment linked with the opportunity to train for jobs at craft, technician and management level

supported by gov funding

if apprenticeship successfully completed, possible of permanent employment

qualifications attained once apprenticeship is complete

remuneration can be less than minimum wage
