- eligible to join chartered institute for the mannagergy or sport & physical activity
- potential level 3 physical training award
What will you learn at RAF COSFORD as the second part of your training
Will qualify in:
- class instructional techniques across a broad range of physical domains & human performance
- effects of exercise on body
- leadership
- coaching techniques
- sports admin & officiating
- opportunity to commence level 3 physical training apprenticeship
- ## expected to conduct end points assessment with external company to gain qualification
What will the first tour as an raf pti entail?
Delivered programmed physical training to personnel undergoing own role related training courses
Carry our physical training tests to provide specific fitness related training programmes which allows specialist training to be consolidated as you complete first work place training package over first 12 months
In early career focus on human performance development training & delivery
Outline rank position and paths to progress through rank and career
Enter on 12 year notice engagement on rank of acting corporal
After completion of 1 year service & providing pass further training courses, gain rank of substantive corporal
To progress required to undertake training in either Parachuting, Force Development or Exercise Rehab
Further promotion to rank of sergeant & beyond=by competitive selection
Can gain diplomas in sports massage, therapy, aerobics, diet & nutrition
Also opportunities to develop in survival training, training consultancy & leadership development
What’s the importance of pti?
Provides critical output to raf operational preparedness, develop knowledge, skills & attitudes
What 5 fitness tests are there to become a pti?
Cardio respiratory tests
(bleep test-maximal test)
Endurance tests
(1 min duration of press-ups & sit-ups to max reps)
Swim test
(swim 50m in less than 60 secs, immediately tread water for 2 mins, swim 60m backstroke/front stoke/breaststroke not timed, surface dive to retrieve 1kg block from 3m deep, climb out unaided)
Transferable motor skills
(assessed in sport specific circuit inc volleyball, hockey, cricket, football, badminton, basketball)
Stamina & physical courage assessment
(5 min tests to performed maximally incl. rope climb, casualty drag, weighted Bergen run, repetitive lift & jerry can carry - immediately followed by MSFT)
What 3 other tests along side the fitness tests are to be completed to become a pti?
Group control & management tasks
(selection of indoor exercises to evaluate Intra & inter personal skills, ability to project voice & demonstrate confidence in delivering physical warm & when officiating activity)
Presentation
(self portrait presentation lasting 5 mins accompanied by hand written submission of presentation)
Written test
(short&multiple choice relating to pti trade & specific course subject matter)
