Referral Interview Script

Hey Bill, How are ya? Did I catch you at a good time?
Well, let me tell you why I’m calling. I think you know John Doe, you know John, don’t’ you?
John and I were sitting down reviewing his business plan and he told me quite frankly, that you’re the most/best ________ that he knows. Coming from John, that’s quite a compliment, wouldn’t you agree?
Well, we’re expanding. We’re gonna be opening another office here in the next 6 months, and based the background and the recommendation from John I think it makes sense we at least get together and meet. I’d love a chance to introduce our firm to you, and I’d love to give you a chance to introduce yourself to me. I don’t know whether there’d be a fit on your part or on ours, but I definitely think it makes sense that you and I get together and meet, so when would be a good time to do that?
I have Monday at 11:30 available or Tuesday at 6pm.

Hi ____, this is Dan with Transamerica. You don’t know me. I’m calling because I’m sitting here with ____. We are thinking about bringing him on board with the company. But before I spend a lot of time with him, I need to know what kind of person he is. May I ask you a few questions?
How long have you known him? What are his best qualities in your opinion? What is he like with his family?
That’s what I’ve gathered by talking with him. Thank you for sharing your feedback. In order for him to have the support he will need to be successful with us, you really should know what he’ll be doing and what would be involved. I think it makes sense for us to get together for about 40 to 45 minutes.
Would Monday or Wednesday work better? 6 or 8?

The reason I’m calling is I’m a director of expansion in the east valley for Transamerica, and we are looking to reach more families faster by opening 2 new offices in the next 12 months.
You are someone I respect (that is well respected) and I’d like to share with you what we are doing to impact families’ lives.

1. We are looking to fill quite a few positions quickly so we can discover our key leaders to open the new offices next year.

BPM Follow up Script to set Interview

Inviter - That was awesome, wasn’t it!
What intrigued you the most?
Trainer - Let me explain my situation so we can work out the logistics…
I need to see you during the day, because my nights are taken up in the field, doing this presentation a couple nights a week, and the rest are church and family, probably just like you. And I know you work during the day, but we’ll figure something out early in the morning, around lunch time, or later in the afternoon.
Also, for common sense reasons, I want to see you in the next 24-48hrs because I want your questions about this and your impressions to be clear in your mind. I also want my impressions of you to be clear in my mind.
So today’s Thursday, so would tomorrow or Saturday work better for you? (Set the time)
If there’s hesitation…
When do you start work in the morning?
When do they ring the bell and let you out?
Which would be easier: Go in a little later in the morning or leave a little early in the afternoon?
