Fill out a Multiple Preparation docket and place in TMM clip
Notify DAO’s
What do you do when you take a train that has been prepared by another driver? (Pre-Departure)
Activate Cab (Key IN and ON)
Ensure Emergency Brake releases to Holding Pressure (set pilot valve)
Ensure Safety Loop light has extinguished

Master Key IN and ON
After tones finish sounding press Panto Up button and visually observe Pantos up
Line Voltage light Illuminates
Panto Up light extinguishes
How do you do the Traction Cut Out Test/ESB?
Master Selector/Reverser FORWARD
Set Hand Pilot Valve
MCH to D1
Observe BC pressure reduces to 0kPa
Power/Braking Indicator illuminates green
Press ESB within 1.5 seconds and observe:
- BC pressure rises to 280kPa
- ES and Safety Loop indicators illuminate
- Power/braking indicator extinguished
MCH to 0 and reset ESB, observe:
- BC pressure to 110kPa
- ES and Safety Loop indicators extinguish
MCH to B6
What status does the train need to be in for VICERS test?
Master Selector/Reverser FORWARD
MCH to 0-COAST
Ensure Park Brakes applied
Initiate test by pressing Vigilance Test Button
What occurs during the VICERS test?
Safety Loop light activates and resets twice
Audible tone
Vigilance Acknowledge Button flashes
Vigilance Repeater light flashes
Vigilance Fault Light should extinguish once test is finished
What status is the train in for Trip test?
MCH in B6
Turn Master Selector/Reverser to NEUTRAL. Trip light illuminates yellow
Headlights, Headboard, Marker lights
Exit cab and strike Trip
Ensure Safety Loop doesn’t reset
When you finish full cab and functionality tests in lead motor and you press ESB for continuity test … what do you do when you get to trailing motor?
Ensure BC displaying 280kPa
Key IN and ON (activate cab)
Master Selector/Reverser to FORWARD
Set Pilot Valve and move MCH to D1
Observe:
- BC gauge stays in emergency
- Safety Loop indicator is illuminated
- Trip lowered status indicator extinguished
- No traction power is available
