Front
The light on top are amber in color.
-They are not cracked, chipped or missing.
I am checking the front for cracks, dent or bulges.
Side of trailer
The DOT tape is properly positioned covering 50% of the trailer.
It is clearly visible.
It is not missing, peeling or overly faded.
Frame
I am checking the frame for cracks, bends, holes and broken welds to the cross members, box and floor.
Landing Gear
The landing gear is fully raised.
The crank handle is secure. It is not loose, bent or twisted.
The landing gear is not bent, twisted and has no missing parts.
The mounting bolts and nuts are not loose or missing.
Torque Arm
The torque arm is not bent, cracked or twisted.
It is properly mounted and secure.
The u-bolts are not bent, cracked or twisted.
The nuts are not loose or missing.
Trailer Assembly
The trailer assembly is not cracked, bent or dented.
The nuts and bolts are not loose or missing.
Air Bags
The air bags are properly mounted and secure at the top and bottom.
It is not leaking air, cur or ripped.
There is no loose or missing nuts or bolts.
Springs
The springs are properly mounted and secure.
They are not shifted, cracked or twisted.
Shock Absorbers
The shock absorbers are properly mounted and secure at the top and bottom.
They are not bent, dented or leaking.
Air Hoses
The air hoses are not kinked, cracked or leaking air.
The couplings are mounted securely.
The nuts and bolts are not loose or missing.
Brake Chamber
The brake chamber is not leaking air, cracked, dented or rusted through.
Slack Adjusters and Push Rods
I am checking for loose or missing pins.
To check for proper adjustment I would chock the wheels and release the brakes.
I would then pull on it by hand. It should not move more than 1 inch.
Drum Brake
The drum brake is not cracked or rusted through.
I am checking for contaminates such as grease, oil or foreign debris.
Brake Linings
The pads can not be worn less than 1/4 inch.
I am also checking for and cracks or missing pieces.
Tires
The tread depth cannot be less than 2/32 inch in all major tread grooves.
I would check for even wear by sliding my hand across the top with a glove.
I am checking where the sidewall meets the tread for any separation.
I am also checking for cracks, tears, holes or bulges.
