Clearance Lights
The clearance lights are amber in color.
They are not cracked, chipped or missing.
Mirrors
The mirrors are properly mounted and secure at each mounting point.
They are not loose, bent or missing.
The glass is not cracked, chipped or missing.
Door
The door opens and closes properly from the outside,
The hinges are secure and not loose.
The seal is not ripped, cracked or missing.
Steps
The steps are properly mounted and secure.
They are not bent, loose or missing.
They are free of debris.
Battery Box
The battery box is properly mounted and secure.
The cover is on tight.
To check the battery I would remove the cover and check that it is secure.
I would check for any loose or missing nuts.
There should be no corrosion.
Fuel Tank
The tank is properly mounted and secure.
The straps are secure and are not cracked or rusted.
The tank is not cracked, leaking or rusted.
The cap is on tight and is not missing.
Catwalk
The catwalk is properly mounted and secure to the frame.
It is clear of objects.
The bolts are not loose or missing.
Frame
I am checking the frames for cracks, broken welds and holes on the frame members, cross members, box and floor.
Drive Shaft
The drive shaft is properly mounted and secure.
It is not bent, cracked or twisted.
The u joints are free of debris.
Exhaust System
The exhaust is properly mounted and secure.
It is not bent, twisted, leaking exhaust or rusted through.
The clamps are on tight and are not missing or loose.
I would check for any soot or rust trails for signs of damage.
Springs
The mounting bracket is properly mounted and secure.
-The bolts are not loose or missing.
The springs are not cracked, shifted or missing.
The bushings are not cracked, loose or missing.
U-Bolts
The u-bolts are properly mounted and secure.
They are not bent, twisted or cracked.
The nuts are not loose or missing.
Air Suspension
The air suspension is properly mounted and secure at the top and bottom.
They are not cracked, cut or leaking.
Shock Absorbers
The shock absorber is properly mounted and secure at the top and bottom.
They are not bent, dented or leaking.
Air Hoses
The air hoses are securely attached.
They are not leaking, kinked, bulging or cracked.
The mounting couplings are not loose or missing.
Air Brake Chamber
The air brake chamber is properly mounted and secure.
It is not cracked, dented or rusted through. The clamp is not loose, missing or cracked.
Slack Adjuster and Push Rod
I am looking for loose, missing or broken pins.
To check that they are working properly I would chock the wheels and release the brakes.
It can’t move more than 1 inch with the brakes released.
Drum Brake
I am checking the drum brake for cracks, dents or holes that are rusted through.
The bolts are not loose or missing.
I am also checking for contaminates such as debris, oil or grease.
Brake Linings
The brake linings should be no less than 1/4 inch thick.
Rear Tires
The rear tire should have no less than 2/32 inch in the major tread grooves.
I would move my hand over the tire to check that it isn’t worn unevenly.
I would check the sidewall for separation, cracks, cuts or bulges.
I would check the tire pressure with a gauge. The sidewall tells me what the correct pressure should be.
Rear tire (continued)
The valve stem is not missing out leaking.
The cap is on tight and is not missing.
I would check between the tires to make sure they aren’t touching and there are no foreign debris.
Rims
The rims are not dented, cracked or bent.
It should not have any illegal welds.
Lug Nuts
The lug nuts are not missing, cracked and are on tight.
There are no signs of looseness such as rust trails or shiny threads.
Splash Gaurds
The splash guards are properly mounted and secure.
They are not missing, cracked or ripped.
The DOT tape is in position, not missing and is clearly visible.
Rear Lights
The rear lights are red in color.
-reverse lights are white.
They are not cracked, chipped or missing.
