What is a regulatory sign? What do they look like? What happens if you do not obey these signs?
These signs tell you of laws and regulations that apply to a specific location. They are black or red on a white background. Failure to obey these signs is a traffic violation
What do speed limit signs tell you?
These signs indicate the maximum or minimum safe speed allowed. The maximum limits are for ideal conditions and you must reduce your speed when conditions require it
What do speed limit signs look like?
They are white signs with black lettering, typically square in shape
What do stop signs mean?
You must come to a complete stop. Stop at the marked stop line or, if none, at the point just before the intersection. Stop before entering a crosswalk

What do yield signs indicate?
Indicates drivers must reduce speed or stop if necessary to yield right-of-way to any traffic of the roadway they are crossing or entering

Triangle in shape. White background, red border, “YIELD” in red lettering
What is a wrong way or a do not enter sign for?
To warn and redirect drivers who are heading the wrong way on one-way streets or freeway ramps. Do not proceed past one of these signs

Travel only in the direction indicated by the arrow on the sign
What so one way signs look like?
Black and white, distinct arrow
What are lane control signs?
These signs give direction and where you can turn and often use an arrow symbol. The signs are along the road or hanging over the road. Sometimes arrows may be painted on the road.
What is a prohibited sign? Give an example.
These signs indicate you cannot do something. For instance, no left turn, or not U-turn
What does a passing sign tell you?
Where it is safe to pass another vehicle and where you cannot

What do warning signs look like?
These signs are yellow or fluorescent green with black symbols. Most are diamond shaped
What are advisory signs and what do they look like?
These cautionary signs show the safe speed around curves, corners, and off-ramps. They are orange with black lettering and/or symbols
What don’t you do at a railroad crossing?
Never try to beat a train across the tracks. Never start to cross the tracks until there is enough room op for your vehicle to clear the tracks on the other side. Do not shift gears when crossing the railroad tracks in case you vehicle stalls
What do work zone signs do and what do they look like?
They are used with other traffic control devices or flag persons to help direct traffic safely through work areas and to protect highway workers. These signs have an orange background with black letters or symbols
What are guide signs and what do they look like?
These signs have a green background and provide directional and mileage information to specific destinations
What are service signs and what do they look like?
These signs have blue backgrounds and provide directions to service facilities
What do brown service signs indicate?
They indicate recreational, historic, or cultural areas
What shape is an interstate sign?
Oval bottom, three points at the top
What shape is a U.S. sign?
That fancy shape that you think of as a stereotypical Route 66 sign
What shape is a state sign?
Square
What shape is a county sign?
Weird.
What does a reflective orange triangle on the rear of a vehicle mean?
That it is designed to travel at speeds less than 25 m.p.h
