What does section 114 of the LTA 1998 allow you to do?

What are the 2 reasons for banning vehicles from the road?
1) DEFECTIVE- fails to comply with rules/regs ie. tinted windscreen
- green sticker
2) UNSAFE- not in a safe condition to be driven ie. illegal modification
- pink sticker
When banned vehicles be driven again?
- Defective= obtained new evidence of vehicle inspection
- Unsafe= vehicle is inspected by authorised agent (VTNZ), given approval, new evidence of inspection
What does section 121 of the LTA relate to?
Taking keys and forbidding to drive
- due to physical or mental condition and the officer feels they are unfit to drive
Under section 121 what can an officer do if they believe someone is unfit to drive?
F.A.R.M.E.D. F= FORBID person to drive for specified time A= ALL keys surrendered R= RENDER vehicle immobile M= MOVE vehicle E= EBA drivers forbidden for 12 hours D= DIRECT drivers to place of rest
Section 118- obtaining info (owner/hirer)
What must the owner or hirer do?
Give all info available to them (within 14 DAYS) which may lead to identifying the driver OR passengers
EXCEPT- when vehicle fleas/police pursuit = IMMEDIATELY
What does section 95 (LTA) allow you to do?
Suspend licence for 28 days
- EBA, speeding, fail/refuse to give blood
