17
Q

Left hand console panel

What is the compressor contactor switch?

A

Turns on and off the operation of the Air compressor on the motor car (local)

18
Q

Left hand console panel

What is the Brake pipe test switch and bell button?

A

Activates a brake pipe reduction to test the operation of the brake. (Used in conjunction with the bell button when switch is On

Off - used as a bell

19
Q

Left hand console panel

What is the traction equipment reset button?

A

This button is used to reset the traction system when traction motors fail to power or the Rheo brake fails to operate. If this doesn’t reset the defect, you will need to isolate the fault.

20
Q

What is apart of the primary safety apparatus?

A

T - Trip
E - Emergency application valve
C - Control governor
H - Hand and foot pilot valve
A - Anti neutralisation device
V - VICERS activation valve

21
Q

When running on the secondary circuit, how often will the control governed bypass button flash and how long do you have to push it?

A

The bypass button will flash every 30secs, if it is not pressed, an emergency application of the brakes will occur after 10 secs

22
Q

What does the local fault light indicate on the Comeng?

A

There has been an overload tripped within the traction equipment system or Rheo braking system

23
Q

What does the line switch fault light indicate on the Comeng?

A

There is a fault within the power supply to the traction motors or line breaker case

24
Q

What does the Rheo brake fault light indicate on the Comeng?

A

A fault with the Rheo brake system

25
Q

What does the MA fault light indicate on the Comeng?

A

A Motor Alternator has stopped producing power somewhere on the train

26
Q

What are the 2 ways you can be notified of a air con fault on the Comeng?

A

If the fault light is flashing. Both air con units are not working on 1 carriage.

If the light is solid. 1 air con unit is not working in at least 1 carriage.

27
Q

What does the supply light indicate on the Comeng?

A

It indicates that 110vDC is present. (At least 1 MA has been started.

28
Q

When operating on the emergency marker light system. How long will it run for and how do you reset it?

A

The emergency marker lights will active when there has been a loss of overhead. They will operate for 1hr 45mins and the marker light switch will need to be moved to reset it

29
Q

How long will marker lights stay illuminated after the Comeng train has been stabled?
