What benefits does tourism bring?
Jobs: (directly) guides and resort staff, (indirectly) builders, farmers
Money: tourists paying for services, put into communities where businesses are
Improvements to infrastructure: airports, railway lines
Taxes: healthcare, education

A honeypot site is a location attracting a large number of tourist who, due to the numbers, place pressure on the environment and people.

They have placed specific oath for people to walk on up snowdonia so it doesn’t erode the whole mountain.
Placed buns in certain areas, especially in snowdonia, to reduce littering

What are the problems with ecotourism in Costa Rica?
Overcapacity, 6% annual increase in visitors
Animals have adapted to eating rubbish
Leakage: foreign investors are building more accommodation on the island but most of the profits made aren’t put back to Costa Rica
