Location and function of the heart
Location: In the chest, between the lungs (slightly left).
Function: Pumps blood throughout the body, supplying oxygen and nutrients.
Location and function of the lungs
Location: on both sides of the chest (thorax).
Function: Responsible for gas exchange, bringing in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide.
Location and function of the liver
Location: Upper right abdomen, beneath the diaphragm.
Function: Filters toxins from blood and produces bile to aid digestion.
Location and function of the pancreas
Location: Behind the stomach in the upper abdomen.
Function: Produces digestive enzymes and insulin, which regulates blood sugar.
Location and function of the spleen
Location: Left side of the abdomen, near the stomach.
Function: Filters blood, recycles old red blood cells, and stores white blood cells.
Location and function of the kidneys
Location: Either side of the spine, just below the rib cage.
Function: Filter waste from the blood and produce urine.
Location and function of the large intestine
Location: Surrounds the small intestine in the abdomen.
Function: Absorbs water from undigested food and forms stool.
Location and function of the small intestine
Location: Central abdomen, between the stomach and large intestine.
Function: Absorbs nutrients from digested food.
Location and function of the stomach
Location: Upper abdomen, between the esophagus and small intestine.
Function: Breaks down food using acids and enzymes.
Location and function of the gall bladder
Location: Beneath the liver in the right upper abdomen.
Function: Stores bile produced by the liver and releases it into the small intestine to help digest fats.
Location and function of the esophagus
Location: Connects the throat to the stomach, runs behind the trachea.
Function: Carries food and liquids from the mouth to the stomach.
Location and function of the trachea
Location: In the neck and upper chest, in front of the esophagus.
Function: carries air to and from the lungs
Diaphragm
Location: Below the lungs, separating chest cavity from abdomen
Function: Main muscle involved in breathing, helps expand the lungs
Urinary bladder
Location: In the pelvis, behind pubic bone
Function: Stores urine until you release it
Ureter
Location: between the kidneys and urinary bladder
Function: transports urine from kidneys to bladder
