Topik 3.2 X Flashcards
Type of blood vessel
Arteries, arterioles, capillaries, venules,veins
What’s the function of arteries
Carry blood away from heart
What’s the function of arterioles
Branch from arteries lead to capillaries
What’s the function of capillaries
Site of exchage
What’s the function of venules
Connect capillaries to veins
What’s the function of veins
Carry blood away to heart
3 layers blood vessels
Tunica interna
Tunica media
Tunica externa
What’s the structure of tunica interna
Inner lining of epithelial cells
Active roll in vessel
What’s the structure of tunica media
Middle layer with smooth/elastic tissue
What’s the structure of tunica externa
An outer layer
Elastic/collagen fibers/nerve endings
Help anchor vessel to surrounding tissue
Explain about arteries
Have 3 layers of bv
Thick muscular - tunica media
High compliance - walls stretch to pressure without tearing
Vasoconstriction - decrease in lumen diameter
*Vasodilation - increase in lumen diameter
Explain about arterioles
Very small bv that branch off from arteries
Carry blood away from heart to tissues/organs
Take blood back to heart
