Topic Two- Final Details. Flashcards
Root hairs- active transport.
Absorb minerals from the soil.
Concentration of minerals in the soil is low. Usually higher in the roots hairs.
Active transport- in plants.
Uses energy from respiration to help the plant pull minerals into the root hair against the gradient.
Two things essential for plant growth.
Xylem- tubes that transport water and minerals from the root to the rest of the plants e.g. The leaves.
Phloem- tube transports sugars from the leaves to growing and storage tissues.
Root hairs- osmosis.
Take in water using osmosis.
Roots stick out in the soil. Each branch covered in millions of microscopic hairs.
Big surface area for absorbing water.
Higher concentration of water in the soil than the plant.
