Communists (Marinus van der Lubbe) was blamed for it

Hitler didn’t want this because the S.A. could stop his dictatorship and achievements and he needed the army to implement his foreign policy aims
Röhm, along with other threats, were executed

Hitler decided to take President + Chancellor = FÜHRER (leader)
Army swore an oath of loyalty to Hitler
