What is liberation for Buddhists?
A
- Being set free from cycle of samsara
- Reach enlightenment by avoiding three poisons, greed hatred + ignorance which keep ppl attached to material things (more free if you have less stuff)

What is liberation for Hindus?
A
- Good karma leads nearer to moksha = breaking from samsara
- Moksha = purpose of life, when atman is absorbed into Brahman
- Path of Bhakti to liberation (devotion) - love to personal god via shrine in home - remember the deity at all times (puja daily)
- Path of karma (actions) good deeds bear good fruit -> affect next reincarnation + chances of liberation
- Path of jnana (knowledge) freeing yourself via studying of scriptures
- Path of yoga (mediation) mental discipline, practise self control, chastity, non violence, ungreedy, sing mantras to raise awareness of Brahman

What is the meaning and purpose of life for non religious people?
A
- No purpose other than biological one = reproduction (no god no purpose)
- No intrinsic meaning = no reason behind life (here by chance)
- Ppl can give own life meaning via charity, volunteering, creative arts, making money, achievements, discovering things etc
- Meaning of life = to enjoy life or achieve potential / have a legacy

Can life only have meaning and purpose for religious people? Yes points
A
- Christians: god created us w purpose, calls to live a monastic life etc, atheist don’t have this
- Hindus: work towards moksha, impossible for ppl w no belief in non physical
- Evangelicals: help others attain eternal life via conversions, non religious ppl don’t believe in afterlife so don’t have this purpose
- Christians: saved from sins, can have relationship w god gives life meaning (impossible for atheists)

- Having children = meaning = happens w out religion
- Religion stops you from enjoying life = too many rules (purpose of life = have fun)
- Make money -> economic legacy for kids
- Dedicate life to help others
- Career choice eg doctor or teacher
