Q
Explain responses towards adoption and fostering
A
- Rcc -> have duty to procreate and bring up children, should do this thru adoption if only option, should only be in marriage for stable fam environment, shouldn’t be between homosexuals -> pope francis praised it as “a very generous way to become parents” and an “act of love” that offers gift of family to someone - adoptive parents “channels of god’s love”
- CofE -> support in form of care for the family, which offers informational guides + workshops -> due to God’s concern for orphans illustrated in Ephesians 1 “in love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through jesus christ” -> we should follow god’s example and show compassion to those who need it through adoption, just as god transformed our lives -> despite 2007 when two archbishops warned about gay adoption, cofe’s children’s charity supports adoption by homosexuals as it is better for child to have parents than none at all
- quakers -> support adoption for everyone including homosexual couples -> believing that not including them would be discrimination -> against conscience, focus on message of love and equality from christ, accept that it is deeply personal choice that allows for many children to find loving homes
4
