🔹Topic 6 Flashcards
How does enthalpy for a reversible reaction in one direction compare with energy change in the other direction?
If enthalpy is positive, the forward reaction is endothermic and if negative, the forward reaction is exothermic
What happens when water is added to anhydrous copper sulphate?
It goes from blue to pink
Explain why chemists refer to equilibrium as dynamic rather than static?
As dynamic means there’s movement and reactants are still turning into products and products to reactants just at the same rate
If more reactants are added to a reversible reaction then what happens to the products?
Explain why this is the case
They will be produced at a slower rate in larger quantities because the system will oppose the change by removing the reactants and turning it into product
