Topic 5- Quantitive Chemistry Flashcards
Mass=
RFM x moles
What is heating to constant mass
When you heat a substance until the mass of it doesn’t change on further heating, due to all it’s produced gases being given off, evens water particles
What is water of crystallisation
When water is chemically bonded to a crystal structure
What does hydrated mean
That solid crystals contain water if crystallisation
What does dehydrated mean
The removal of water of solid crystals
What does anhydrous mean
Does not contain water of crystallisation
How do you work out percentage yield
Theoretical yield/ actual yield x 100
Why is theoretical yield never 100% (4)
Loss in mechanical transfers, one container to another
Loss in separating funnel
Side reaction
The reaction has not finished
