Igneous rocks are created by volcanic activity when magma or lava cools, forming rocks made of crystals that are hard.

An example of an Igneous rock is:

How are metamorphic rocks formed? Give 2 examples of metamorphic rocks.

A

Metamorphic rocks are created from existing rocks changed from high pressure and heat. They form rocks which are crystalized and very hard.

Examples of metamorphic rocks include:

  • Slates (compressed shale)
  • Schists (from mudstone)
