Why the search for meaning in life leads to a belief in God

Answer 1

1. Science can’t answer why are we here, must be god (god of the gaps)
2. Science can’t answer what happens after death, NDE’s conclude we join god after death
3. Purpose: ensure ppl treated justly, but often this isn’t case so must be afterlife where good are rewarded
4. Capitalism, no meaning to life apart from money, turn to Hindu practise eg yoga to feel in tune w divine presence in calmness
5. Feel guided into career when seeking god for purpose in life

1. Dawkins - can only search for scientific facts not meaning of life (search is futile)
2. Freud - so desperate to find meaning in lives so make up belief in God
   - when ppl claim god has led them, that is coincidence / wish fulfilment
