It refers to the instrument that is used for the propulsion of projectiles by means of expansive force of gases coming from burning gunpowder, (FBI Manual).
FIREARM
Includes rifles, muskets, carbines, shotguns, revolvers, pistols, and all other deadly weapons from which a bullet, ball, shot shell, or other missiles maybe discharged by means of gunpowder or other explosives. The term also includes air rifles except such as being of a small caliber and limited range used as toys. The barrel of any firearm shall be considered a complete firearm for all purposes hereof, (Sec. 877 Revised Administrative Code).
FIREARM
It refers to any handheld or portable weapon, whether a small or light weapon that expels or is designed to expel a bullet, shot, slug, missile or any projectile, which is discharged by means of expansive force of gases from burning gunpowder or other form of combustion or any similar instrument or implement. For the purpose of this act, the barrel, frame or receiver is considered a firearm, (Sec 3 RA 10591).

It is a shoulder firearm or designed to be fired from the shoulder that can discharge a bullet through a rifled barrel by different actions of loading, which may be classified as lever, bolt, or self-loading (Sec 3 RA 10591)
- Rifle
Long smooth bored firearm designed to prepare a single shot.
- Musket
It is a weapon designed, made and intended to fire a number of ball shots or a single projectile through a smooth bore by the action or energy from burning gunpowder (Sec 3 RA 10591).

Paradox
It is a shotgun wherein the diameter of the bore of the barrel is uniform from the rear portion up to the muzzle end. This type is designed for short ranges.
c. Cylinder Bore Shotgun.
The bore of the barrel is tapered towards the muzzle end. It is designed for long ranges.
d. Choke Bore Shotgun.
A shotgun in which the barrel is rifled a few inches towards the muzzle end. Paradox shotgun can also be used to fire a single large lead ball or round lead ball.
e. Paradox.
A short barrel rifle (not longer than 22 inches).

It is a hand-operated firearm with a revolving cylinder containing chambers for individual cartridges (Sec 3 RA 10591)
- Revolver.
It is a hand-operated firearm having a chamber integral with or permanently aligned with the bore which may be self- loading (Sec 3 RA 10591)
- Pistol.
In this type, the firer should cock first the hammer before the trigger is squeezed. It is called single action since only one action is observed on the hammer after the trigger is squeezed. This action refers to the downward motion of the hammer.
Single Action Revolver
In this type, there is no need for the firer to cock the hammer.
What he/she will do, is just continuously squeeze the trigger of the handgun when the bfresh ammunitions are loaded to its rotating cylinder. The term double action refers to the two actions/movements observed on the hammer after the trigger is squeezed. These are the upward and downward movements of the hammer.
Double Action Revolver.
In this type, the top strap is unlocked in the breech. Afterward, the barrel is swung downward to open the gun to extract the empty shells.

In this type, the cylinder swings out to the left of the solid frame to extract the fired cartridge cases from the chamber by pulling out with the star shaped extractor.
