What is the Philosophical perspective of justice?
Notion that justice must be seen done
What is the sociological perspective of justice?
Punishment is an ensemble of social forces (what they get compared to the crime)
What are the two forces inside of us according to Durkheim?
- Our desire to forward our personal goals and objectives
- To do good for the social collective

Public have a view that sentencing is too lenient due to lack of information

Suggests that wide spread fear of crime is enhanced from the media
Define Folk Devil?
Emergence of a person or group of persons that become defined as a threat to societal values
Primary deviance?
The person commits a deviant action without knowing they are going against the norm
Secondary deviance
The person is already labelled deviant and continues to commit a certain crime
