Dawes plan
Took out loans from the US in 1924
This helped the economy recover and pay reparations
Rentenmark
A temporary currency with real value in limited amounts which restores confidence in the German people and the economy
Young plan
In 1929 the young plan made reparations easier to pay back by decreasing the figure but extending the payment time. This improved the economy but annoyed the right wing
Success abroad
1925- Locarno pact secured existing boarders with France and Belgium, improved relations with them in order to make changes to TOV
1926- League of Nations improved germanys status
1928-agreed to keep armies for self defence and Germany became a leading European nation
Social and cultural developments
Art- German art was some if the most exciting in Europe and pre war censorship was removed
Cinema- Fritz lang produced the film Metropolis which was technically advanced and cost 5 mil marks
Literature- right wing writers criticised the gov while left wing writers wrote anti-war and pro democracy novels

Middle class- savings lost, no wages increase, no welfare support, high unemployment with law and doctors
Farmers- rely on production, no wage increases, no investment
