Topic 2 Flashcards
Physical Change vs. Chemical
Physical - change in shape but not chemical composition\
( evaporation, cutting, freezing)
Chemical- causes one or more new substances to be formed( burning, cooking,)
Chemical Properties
any property that describes how a substance reacts with another substance when forming new substance
eg) combustibility, toxicity, reacts with air ect
Physical Properties
any property that can be observed or measured without forming a new substance
eg) density, color, texture
Qualitative vs Quantitative
Qualitative- described but not measured(quality) eg. color, texture, state
Quantitative- characteristic of a substance that can be measured numerically( a quanitity) eg. density, melting temp. , solubility
