What are the components of Health-Related Exercise?
Body Composition, Cardiovascular Fitness, Flexibility, Muscular Endurance and Muscular Strength.
What are the components of Skill-Related Fitness?
Agility, Balance, Co-ordination, Power, Reaction Time and Speed.
What is the definition of Health?
A state of complete Mental, Physical and Social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.
What is the definition of Performance?
To perform to the best of one’s ability.
What is the definition of Fitness?
The ability to meet the demands of the environment.
What is the definition of Exercise?
A form of physical activity done to maintain or improve health and/or physical fitness, it is not competitive sport.
What is the definition of Body Composition?
The percentage of someone’s bodyweight which is made up of fat, muscle and bone. An example is a low weight required to be a jockey.
What is the definition of Cardiovascular Fitness?
The ability to exert the body to exercise for long periods of time. An example is a midfielder in Football.
What is the definition of Flexibility?
Range of movement at a joint. An example is a trampolinist holding a straddle position.
What is the definition of Muscular Endurance?
Using voluntary muscles many times without getting tired. An example of this us a Tennis layer playing Groundstrokes.
What is the definition of Muscular Strength?
Force produced by a muscle against a resistance. An example is a prop in Rugby.
What is the definition of Agility?
Ability to change direction at speed. An example of this is a centre in Netball.
What is the definition of Balance?
Maintaining the body’s centre of mass above the base of support (can be static or dynamic). An example of this is a Gymnast on a beam.
What is the definition of Co-ordination?
Linking two or more body parts at the same time. An example of this is Serving in Tennis.
What is the definition of Power?
Strength x Speed. An example of this is High Jump.
