Test for Carboxylic Acids

Answer 3

React with sodium carbonate.
- Produces salt, water and CO2
- Effervescence shows gas production and bubble through limewater to show CO2 produced.

Question 4

Test for Alkenes

Answer 4

Shake with Bromine water for 1 minute
- Alkenes decolorized bromine water
- Color change from orange to colorless
