Organ
What is bone and its function
Living tissue
For support, protection, movement, storage for calcium
Types of bone
Short bone- cuboidal(ankle/wrist)
Flat bone- protection(rib)
Sesamoid bone- patella
Irregular bone- various shape
Explain joint
Joint surface are covered with articular cartilage for smooth surface
Classification of joints
Synarthrosis- fibrous joint (no movement)(skull)
Amphiarthrosis- cartilaginous (slightly move)(vertebrae)
Diarthrosis- synovial(freely move)
Type of synovial joint
Gliding- glide/rotate
Hinge- flexion/extension
Saddle- convex/concave
Condyloid- pops out too much from the socket
Ball/socket- flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, rotation
Pivot- supination, pronation
Explain about scapula
Known as shoulder blade
Articulates with humerus and clavicle
Anterior surface of scapula
Costal
Lateral surface of scapula
Humerus
Medial aspect of clavicle
Convex
Lateral aspect of clavicle
Concave
Distal humerus
Articulates with radius,ulna
Medial humerus
Articulates with glenoid cavity
Radius
Attachment for pronator teres muscle
Pectoralis major
Proximal; clavicular head, sternocostal head
Distal; lateral lip of intertubercular groove of humerus
Pectoralis minor
Proximal; 3-5 rib
Distal; medial/superior surface of coracoid process
Serratus anterior
Proximal; external surface of 1-8 rib
Distal; anterior surface of medial border of scapula
