Describe group/peer or personal reflection
Where you take time for internal reflection or when, as a group, you consciously take time to think what has happened and what has been learnt.
Describe Questioning
Can take the form of an interview. Can follow a structured or unstructured from in which participants are questioned, providing a picture of the participants learning and views by subjective knowledge, opinions and beliefs.
Describe Performance rating
Most often includes checklists and questionnaires used as a tool to rate their own or others’ performance or ability level.
Describe Video observation
Where you take examine footage taken from the expedition to provide visual evidence in which can be looked over and personal skills evaluated from.

Advantages: • Increased awareness of thoughts, feelings, strengths and weaknesses • Develops better understand of others • Actively engages in learning process • Learns from others Disadvantages: • Can be time consuming • Needs experience and practice.

• Interviewer obtains full range of info
• Provides qualitative data for further examination
• Works well in schools
Disadvantages:
• Takes time
• Answers may be hard to analyse and compare
• Interviewer can be bias towards individuals’ responses.

Advantages:
• Can obtain large amounts of data
• Useful for a large group
• Simple to use
• Data is relatively easy to compare and analyse
Disadvantages:
• Lacks reliability
• Impersonal: don’t provide full picture
• Responses provided may not be accurate.

Advantages: • Firsthand information • Simple to use • Verifies data from other sources • Can be viewed repeatedly Disadvantages: • Time consuming • Small sample size • Required skilled recorder • Is unreliable as sole source of information
