Valuing responses creates an atmosphere of respect towards both the participation and leader. The group responds to others needs and abilities by demonstrating compassion, sensitivity and fairness.
What happens during the first debrief phase: ‘What happened?’
This phase recalls and reviews events and discusses how the experience affected individuals. It can be in both verbal and non verbal forms.
What happens during the second debrief phase: ‘So What?’
This phase focuses on a review of what you have learned. It involves discussion regarding the goals of the trip and behaviour changes which may occur in the next activity.
What happens during the third debrief phase: ‘Now what?’
This phase of the debrief involves discussion regarding the learning which took place and how it could be adapted to other situations in daily life. It is conducted in two stages: Summary and Closure.
