A
- Pain in the throat
- Painful swallowing
- Loss of voice or changes in voice

features of viral tonsillitis?
A
- Red throat
- Bilateral Swollen tonsils, which may have white flecks of pus
- Fever
- Lymphadenopathy

features of bacterial tonsillitis?
A
- intense erythema of tonsils and pharynx
- Yellow exudate
- Tender, enlarged anterior cervical glands

what is quinsy?
A
complication of bacteria tonsilitis = peritonsillar abscess

features of quinsy?
A
o Severe one sided sore throat
o Deviation of the uvula to the unaffected side
o Trismus (difficulty opening the mouth)
o Reduced neck mobility

how to manage quinsy?
A
o EMERGENCY needs needle aspiration
