Titrations Flashcards

1
Q

what is needed for good results?

A
  • do rough titration first to get an idea of volume required (ignore in calculations though)
  • open tap dropwise close to end point
  • continuously swirl flask over white tile
  • before titration, rinse burette with standard solution

Q

pipette

A
  • used to get an accurate volume

* when using a pipette, take it above the graduation mark then release some.

Q

procedure for standard solution

A
  1. transfer powder into beaker
  2. add water to dissolve powder
  3. transfer solution into volumetric flask
  4. add water to beaker and swirl. This is called washing.
  5. transfer into the volumetric flask. Repeat this process.
  6. using a dropper, make the solution up to the mark.
  7. bottom of meniscus at graduation mark.
  8. add a stopper and invert the flask several times to mix.
  9. this is now a sample solution.
