what is a cell?
basic building block of an organism
what is a tissue?
a group of cells with a similar structure and function working together
example of a tissue?
-muscular tissue- contract to bring movement
-glandular tissue-contains secretory cells that can produce and releases substances e.g. hormones and enzymes.
-epithelial tissue- covers outside of body as well as your internal organs.
what is an organ ?
A group of tissues working together to perform one or more functions.
how is the stomach an organ?
When your stomach receives food, it contracts and produces acids and enzymes that break down food. When your stomach has broken down food, it passes it to your small intestine.
how is the pancreas an organ
- produces hormones to control blood sugar
-produces some of the enzymes that digest food
