Epithelial tissue
Covering or lining tissue, (outer layer of skin, lining of heart, kidneys, intestines ans liver.) Made up of epithelial cells.
Connective
Provides support for the body and helps to hold all the body parts together. They are separated by large amounts non cellular material/matrix. Bone, cartilage, ligaments, blood.
Types of muscular tissue
- Smooth
- Cardiac
- Skeletal
Smooth muscle tissue
Does not have any striations, found in the walls of the stomach and intestines, walls of blood vessels, iris of the eye, and uterus.
Cardiac muscle tissue
Also known as heart muscle, makes up most of the heart. Pumps blood and cannot be voluntarily controlled.
Skeletal muscle tissue
Makes up the muscles attached to bones. Voluntarily controlled.
Nervous tissue
Made up of neurons. Carries messages across the body. Found in the brain, spinal cord and nerves.
