Tissue Repair Flashcards

1
Q

STEP ONE

A

Inflammation

  1. Inflammator chemical release by
    a) mast cells –> histamine
    b) macrophages and injured cells –> others
  2. Capillaries dilate and become permeable
  3. White blood cells, clotting proteins, antibodies diffuse to injured area
  4. Clot forms
  5. Portion exposed to air forms scab
  6. Excess fluids, destroyed cells and debris is picked up by lymph vessels or macrophages

Q

2 ways

A
  1. Regeneration
Destroyed tissue replaced with SAME kind of tissue
  2. Fibrosis
Destroyed tissue replaced with DIFFERENT kind of tissue (scar tissue)

STEP TWO

A

Organization

  1. Granulation tissue- replaces blood clot
    a. Capillaries to form new network
    b. Fibroblasts produce collagen
    c. Macrophages digest clot
  2. Granulation tissue is destine to become scar tissue

STEP THREE

A

Regeneration and fibrosis

  1. Surface epithelium regenerates
  2. Epithelial cells migrate across the granulation tissue below scab
  3. Fibrosis tissue beneath matures and contracts
