➊ Grave’s Ophthalmopathy
➋ Autoimmune condition which attacks tissue surrounding the eye – In most cases, the same condition that causes TED also affects the thyroid gland, causing Grave’s disease
➌ Eye muscles, eyelids, tear glands and fatty tissues behind eye become inflamed → Become red and swollen, making the eyes bulge out
➍ Smoking cessation as smoking greatly increases the risk
➏ • Exposure keratopathy – Eyes can’t close
• Compressive optic neuropathy – Retro-orbital swelling
