Thoratic Abdominal Circulation Flashcards

1
Q

Blood supply to heart

A

Coronary branches are first branches off from aorta (supplies epicardium and myocardium)
Right coronary artery supplies = right atrium, most of right ventricle
Left coronary artery supplies = left atrium, most of left ventricle, part of right ventricle
Supply of blood from both overlaps in many areas of the heart

Q

Venous return

A

Great, middle, and small cardiac veins

Veins drain into coronary sinus, which dumps into right atrium

Q

Bypass surgery

A

Use either internal thoratic artery or great saphenous vein

Double bypass implies 2 coronary arteries were blocked

Q

Upper body circulation

A
Aortic arch
Brachiocephatic trunk = right common carotid, right subclavian
Left common carotid artery
Left subclavian artery
Supplies head and arms
Blood returns through superior vena cava

Q

Lower body circulation

A
Abdominal aorta (from descending thoratic aorta)
Supplies abdomen and legs
Blood returns through inferior vena cava

Q

Circulation to the abdomen

A

Abdominal aorta
From thoratic descending aorta, passes through aortic hiatus of diaphragm, bifurcates into R/L common iliac arteries
4 main branches = CT, SM, R, IM

Q

Celiac trunk

A

Distal to aortic hiatus of diaphragm
Divides into left gastric, splenic, and common hepatic arteries
Supplies esophagus, stomach, proximal duodenum, liver, binary apparatus, and pancreas

Common hepatic artery

A

From celiac trunk

A

From abdominal aorta
Inferior to celiac trunk
