- the people who are represented in Thiiird have previously had many barriers up when it comes to being represented in the media but digital media has removed these barriers and meant that they can create their own media

- have to invest their own money
- participated in 2018 Somerset House Print exhibition which helps gain industry attention
- no direct advertising in magazine or website
- have received grants in past due to being an independent culture magazine
- Nike London Grant Initiative commissioned THIIIRD to promote the ways their donations were being put to good use
- both print and web magazines were given separate fees for the advertorial content that publicised the good work the different local charities were doing for their communities: the S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys Project, print issue had an extra pull out to highlight the NIKE project.

- put on events such as Swim N’ Cook Out to engage audience and are publicised by social media

- don’t get funding so invest own money into magazine
- doesn’t follow set formula: celebrates diversity and difference
- doesn’t increase profit through ads: high risk for them
