Thigh Muscles - Post Flashcards
What are these mucles
- flexors
- hamstrings
What characterizes them as hamstrings
between ischial tuberosity and tibia/fibula
Biceps femoris: origin, insertion, innervation, & function
Origin: long head - inferomedial ischial tuberosity; short head - lat. lip of linea aspera
Insertion: lat. head of fibula
Innervation: long head - tibial part sciatic n.; short head - common fibular part sciatic n.
Function: flex + lat. rotate leg @ knee joint + extend + lat rotate thigh @ hip joint
Semitendinosus: origin, insertion, innervation, & function
Origin: postermedial ischial tuberosity
Insertion: pes anserinus
Innervation: tibial part sciatic n.
Function: flex + med. rotate leg @ knee joint + extend + med. rotate thigh @ hip joint
Semimembranosus: origin, insertion, innervation, & function
Origin: superolateral ischial tuberosity
Insertion: medial tibial condyle
Innervation: tibial part sciatic n.
Function: flex + med. rotate leg @ knee joint + extend + med. rotate thigh @ hip joint
Pes Anserinus - what is it, what does it provide
- fusion of gracilis, semitendinosus and sartorius tendons
- gives dynamic stability to med knee bc attaches posterior to the med-lat axis of knee rotation
