Leg Muscles - Ant Flashcards
What are they
dorsiflexors (extensors) of the foot + ankle OR toes
List them
- Tibialis Ant
- EHL
- EDL
- Fibularis tertius
Innervation
All by deep fibular n. but different branches
Tibialis Ant.: Origin, Insertion, Innervation, Functions
Origin: lat. surface tibia + adj inteross
Insertion:mmed + inf surfaces med cuneiform & adj surfaces @ MT I bases
Innervation: Deep fibular n. L4, L5
Functions:
- dorsiflex foot @ ankle
- foot inversion
- dynamic support medial arch of foot
EHL: Origin, Insertion, Innervation, Functions
Origin: middle 1/2 of med. fibula + adj. inteross
Insertion: dorsal base of hallux distal phalynx
Innervation: Deep fibular n. L5, S1
Functions:
- extend hallux
- dorsiflex foot
EDL: Origin, Insertion, Innervation, Functions
Origin: prox 1/2 med. fibula + lat. tibial condyle
Insertion: dorsal digital expansions onto bases of 4 toes
Innervation: Deep fibular n. L5, S1
Functions:
- extend toes
- dorsiflex foot
Fibularis tertius: Origin, Insertion, Innervation, Functions
Origin: distal med. fibula
Insertion: dorsomedial base MT V
Innervation: Deep fibular n. L5, S1
Functions: dorsiflex + evert foot
Outlien briefly the course of the deep fibular n.
between fibulairs longus and neck of fibula –> descends between tibialis ant. & EHL @ inteross memberane, accompanied by ant. tibial a.
Outline course of ant. tibial a.
- ant + sup to inteross memb;
- descends between tib. ant & EDL;
- toward med foot, under ER;
- becomes dorsalis pedis;
