Thigh, Hip, + Knee Muscles Flashcards
OINA's
Rectus Femoris Action
- extends knee
- steadies hip joint
- helps iliopsoas flex hip joint
Rectus Femoris PA
anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS), ilium
Rectus Femoris DA
quadriceps tendon to tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament
Rectus Femoris Innervation
femoral nerve (L2, L3, L4)
Vastus Lateralis Action
extend knee
Vastus Lateralis PA
greater trochanter, lateral lip of linea aspera
Vastus Lateralis DA
quadriceps tendon to tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament, also attach to tibia and patella via aponeuroses (lateral patellar retinacula)
Vastus Lateralis Innervation
femoral nerve (L2, L3, L4)
Vastus Medialis Action
extend knee
Vastus Medialis PA
intertrochanteric line, medial lip of linea aspera
Vastus Medialis DA
quadriceps tendon to tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament, also attach to tibia and patella via aponeuroses (medial patellar retinacula)
Vastus Medialis Innervation
femoral nerve (L2, L3, L4)
Vastus Intermedius Action
extend knee
Vastus Intermedius PA
anterior and lateral shaft of femur
Vastus Intermedius DA
quadriceps tendon to tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament
Vastus Intermedius Innervation
femoral nerve (L2, L3, L4)
Popliteus Action
- unlocks knee by rotating femur 5 degrees on fixed tibia
- medially rotates tibia of unplanted limb
Popliteus PA
lateral condyle of femur, lateral meniscus
Popliteus DA
posterior tibia above soleal line
Popliteus Innervation
tibial nerve (L4, L5, S1)
Semitendinosus Action
- extend hip
- flex knee and medially rotate it when flexed
- when hip and knee joints are flexed (as when sitting), extend trunk at hip joint (to rise)
Semitendinosus PA
ischial tuberosity
Semitendinosus DA
pes anserinus of tibia
Semitendinosus Innervation
tibial division of sciatic nerve part of tibia (L5, S1, S2)
