Describe 1st-4thrd degree burns

Answer 1

1st degree= erythema + epidermal peeling (ordinary sunburn)

2nd degree has two forms:

• superficial: painful vesicles due to edema of superficial dermis and epidermis, non-scarring (may take 3 weeks to heal)
• Deep: pale, anesthetic skin results in scarring (like what you had on leg from motorbike)

3rd degree: full thickness skin destroyed→ ulcer→ scar

4th degree: loss of skin and SQ fat +- underlying structures
