Theory Of Planned Behaviour Flashcards
Azjen
Beh attitude
Subjective norm
Perceived behavioural control
Azjen - a cognitive theory about the factors that lead to a decision to take part in addictive beh
Behavioural attitude, subjective norm and perceived beh control all lead to intention which leads to behaviour
Beh attitude - personal view of beh - desirability - formed on belief of consequences and value
Sub norm - product of social influences - “injunctive” what we think others will think, “descriptive” what others are doing
PBC - the more control ppl have over beh, the stronger the intention to do it
Individuals with high PBC are more likely to persevere with a beh
AO2
Beh attitude- US office of national drug control policy in 2005 campaign to lower teenage cannabis focused of attitudes – aimed to show cannabis inconsistent with autonomy and achieving aspirations
Sub norms - adolescents need actual data to correct the norm as in some groups all will smoke but this is not reality
PBC - Godin - pps studied at start and 6 months later - only beh control is a predictor of actual behaviour
Too rational - fails to take into account emotions/compulsions etc
Sober - ppl usually measured when sober - intentions far diff under the influence
