Theory of Mind - Metacognition Flashcards
Theory of Mind
the ability to attribute mental states — beliefs, intents, desires, pretending, knowledge, etc. — to oneself and others and to understand that others have beliefs, desires, and intentions that are different from one’s own.
False-belief task
that is, to recognize that others can have beliefs about the world that are diverging.
Altruism
the principle or practice of concern for the welfare of others.
Evolutionary explanations of altruism
That animals and humans are more altruistic towards close kin than to distant kin and non-kin has been confirmed in numerous studies across many different cultures. Even subtle cues indicating kinship may unconsciously increase altruistic behavior.
Economic View of altruism
