Theory of Nativism/Innateness:
- Suggests that children’s brains are able to understand and develop to use language themselves.
- LAD ( Language Acquisition Device) a hypothetical tool that children are hardwired to be able to learn language quickly.

A
  • Speech patterns used by caregivers when speaking to their child. Eg. Repetition, High pitch, Name not pronouns etc. (SEE SHEET)
  • EXPANSION: Development of child’s utterance into longer meaningful form
  • RECAST: Commenting on, extending and repeating of a child’s phrase
