What does McDonaldisation mean?
Ritzer - products are made like fast food: it is cheap to make and is the same all the time

- the UN - enforces international law and peacekeeping
- the EU - international politics working together
- INGOs - coordinating aid
What is cultural globalisation?
the spread of cultures across the world e.g music, films, food, clothes, languages
What does cultural hybridisation mean (PM)?
a mixture of cultures all together
What are the disadvantages of cultural globalisation?
Traditional cultures could be replaced by western cultures by TNCs moving into LICs, leading to cultural imperialism
Define cultural imperialism
When one culture is thought to be better and is more dominant
How are cultural goods spread across the world?
international media e.g radio, internet, TV, social media
Why do some sociologists think that TNCs are more powerful than governments?
- they operate in many countries so have a global reach
- national govs find it hard to control TNCs
- govs are reluctant to act against them out of fear of losing jobs therefore harming their own economy
