The Beginnings Of Change

- 1536- monestaries were shut in the English Reformation- led to less care for the poor and reduced public health
- Religious people were critical of new discoveries by Vesalius, Harvey and Syndenham- held back medical progress as their ideas went against Galen, slowing mediacl progress as it was not as widespread.
- Edward Jenner’s ideas were protested against by the church, as cows were lesser in the Great Chain of Being so should not be involved in health
