Q

what do Christians think about animals rights and consuming meat

A

believe god gave humans dominion over the world and all in it (genesis)
animals are a part of god creation and deserve respect and protection - St Francis of Assisi
Jesus said that god cares even about the sparrows
the earth and everything in it is the lords - bible and stewardship
if they are not vegetarian many Christians eat free range and organic meat
many actively campaign against hunting as a sport and agree only with medical testing but encourage different methods
on day of judgement we will be called for our actions including treatment of animals - book of revelation Jesus talked about it
in the genesis animals were made before us and therefore they were here first and we should treat them with the same level of respect

Q

what would atheists argue about the consumption of animals

A

many atheists would argue that as long as we do it in a humanin way it is okay because food is a basic necessity of life and humans ultimately have more dominance over the animals
animals don’t have a soul so if we kill them we aren’t hurting god
