What is a charity?
A ‘not for profit’ organisation with the intention of helping in an area that they think needs attention
What is community cohesion?
All the community getting along
How can students get involved in the school community? Give examples and explain them
1)Join the School council - allows better communication between teachers and pupils ,
brings new ideas from students that will benefit the whole school community,
gives students a practical experience of democracy,
builds their team working skills

What is a community?
A group of people who share the same values or circumstances ę.g people who follow a religion or those in a school
How do local and national media influence public opinion?
The media affect what people see and hear, often they’ll use opinions or emotive language to sway the reader to share their opinion.
Ę.g shows like ‘Murdered by my Boyfriend’ raise awareness on domestic violence
They can have a big impact on politics
in 2008 the government had plans to increase fuel duty, so the Daily Telegraph launched a ‘Fair Deal for Drivers’ campaign to put pressure on the government, they released a petition against these planned increases and over 10 000 people signed it

- To know they are safe at work
State 2 Responsibilities Employees have:
- Responsible t do their job properly
- Must respect fellow workers by not harassing, bullying or discriminating against them (or you can be taken to court)
What is the Minimum Rights of Pay Law?
It states that there is a minimum wage every employee must be paid to prevent employers underpaying their staff in the workplace. It varies with age

Explain the right employees have to not be discriminated against
Thing like the ‘Equal Pay Act’ (1970) and the ‘Disability Discrimination Act’(2005) prevent discrimination in the work place. It is illegal to discriminate against someone based on their age disability ethnic city religion,sexuality or gender
Elaborate on the right to safety employees have in the work place
The ‘health and safety at work act’ states the duties employers have to keep employees safe at work, employers must provide job training, supervision and induction to make sure the employees can do their jobs safely
How have the media supported political parties in the past?
In 1992 the sun newspaper printed a headline the day before the election criticising the Labour leader Labour lost the election
In 1997 Tony Blair of the Labour Party got the sons support and labour won the election

In politics political parties are increasingly using social media such as Facebook and Twitter to reach voters
There are televised debates between political parties on the TV that genuinely have a big impact on the opinion polls
What is a spin Doctor?
A spin doctor is someone who is hired by a politician to use media to put the politician in a good light
What is propaganda?
Information that is usually biased and one-sided to influence the desired audience by promoting a particular point
Give an example of propaganda
In North Korea they have billboards that say things like: ‘Death to the USA our sworn enemy’
