action - meet megan in the middle for a hug
Well here we are. 2 days before christmas day, the most joyous day of our your year (lane walks by) and there goes your assignment. His name is george, george bailey. You only have to the morning of Christmas Eve.
Megan - thats only one night, to do what? where is he going? and why does he look so unhappy?
he was going to run away, but his car slid into the ditch bacl there. Now he’s going to the bridge.
Megan- why is he going to the bridge?
Probably to throw himslef off of it
megan- …..Lets get his car out of the ditch so he can drive away
We put his can into the ditch. He can’t run away. he has some things about his life to confront and understand. Thats your jobm to get him to confront his life and understand it, but you have to get it done before tomorrow morning.
megan- but i don’t know him
we know, Clara, but George is your assignment and you need to get to know what led him to this moment. For that, We have to go back in time.
Megan - If i’m successful with george, will i finally get my wings?

megan - that was so nice of george to show little harry how to play hockey
George was and is always nice. Always thinking of others. He helped Harry learn to play hockey. They were both starts in their own division. unfortunately George blocked one of harry’s slap shots with his knee when he was 17 while they were playing shinny and it shattered his knee cap. He tried to play again too soon after the injurt and he tore up his knee really bad. George could never play hockey again. his knee wouldn’t stand it.

Now, look over here clara. We’ll see George in a bit. He’s a star hockey player in his league, and has been tring to teach his little brother harry how to play hockey.
megan- oh no, did he blame Harry?
not at all, he only encouraged Harry to keep playing for both of them. Now we need to see something else in George’s past.
Megan - George wanted to watch his brother play, but he stayed to help Mr. Gower
Like I said, George is a really great guy.
Megan - what happened after that?
The game went on. (cheers) Harry scored, (cheers) In fact he scored a hat trick in the third period! (cheers). The marauders won the provincial championship due to Harry’s scoring prowess
Megan - Well thats a lovely story, but so what?
Just watch what happens next.
Hawkson : Well lets get together with your dad and Harry and we can talk (they all leave)
That was the start of Harry Bailey’s long and very successful NHL career.
Megan - I still dont get it

Megan - it looks like everything is going so well for george. what could possibly go wrong?

Peter gets carried off
Peter was diagnosed with leukemia after that. Treatment went on for 3 years until only one treatment was left.
Megan - What was that?
Bone marrow transplant. A donor needed to be found as soon as possible. Harry was in his rookie year with the canucks, but he wasn’t a suitable donar anyway.
Megan - did they find a suitable donor?
Of course they did
Megan - thats wonderful! Who was it?
George, who else?
Megan - did george’s father live?
He did, but he was never the same. He was weakened and couldn’t coach or manage the rink like he used to. George had started doing both when his dad was sick and he just continued. 10 years passed, and now we’re all up to date.
megan -It seems like george’s life is ok now.
Not so much. The canucks’ sponsorship of the team and rink expired after harry’s rookie year. he’s a big star with them now. George is in charge of the rink and team. Potter still has the mortgage on the rink and George has taken a second mortgage on his and marion’s home just to pay potter. Now George is running short of money and cannot figure out how to pay for either his home or the rink. The team hasn’t been winning and people aren’t coming to the rink. Its all just gone down hill. George left the game and went to see Potter in Wollarton to see if he can negotiate the mortgage down.
Act 2
It’s December 23rd, It’s storming, his team is losing their game, his car is in the ditch, he’s going to losehis rink, he’s afraid he’s going to lose his home. you’re his guardian angel now. You’ve only got until the morning of christmas Eve. Go save him.
Megan - where did he go?
the bridge. Now, get there before he does something stupid.
David - people wouldn’t talk to me, so i left town. Not that it matters now.
George: What do you mean?
Oh, the town went to hell.
The guy who owned the rink and coached the team, Old Pete Bailey, got sick and died.
The rink got torn down and the hockey team disappeared.
The curling rink went next, then the co-op.
Nothing much left in town except the old folks home. everything else moved to Wollarton.
